Walter Ferguson powerlifted in full meets 1975-1985 and did 584 squat, 407 bench press, and 617 deadlift in the 242 lb class, placing high in many meets. In 1985, Walter suffered a knee injury and near fatal blood clot and was unable to resume full meet powerlifting. In the early 1990's Walter returned to the platform to lift in bench press meets setting numerous records. In addition to his lifting , Walter regularly attends meets to officiate.
