N.C. Barbell Hall of Fame News
The North Carolina Barbell Hall of Fame serves the barbell sports of Weightlifting and Powerlifting. It serves to honor past and present lifters who have had major contributions and to preserve the history of the sport in North Carolina.
3-14-07 :  The N.C. Barbell Hall of Fame executive/induction committee met at the Ironboy Meet. Danny Plyler was formally inducted into the Hall of fame.  Four more N.C. lifting greats were approved for induction soon. All of our meetings and major functions will now occur at meets. We will be attending major N.C. meets such as AAU, Ironboy, 100% RAW, and USAPL. The induction criteria have been modified in keeping with the modern times and the changing nature of our sport(s). One of our major projects will be to preserve the rich history of North Carolina lifting. Tim King will now present the physical location at his gym in Liberty N.C. which is centrally located in N.C.  New inductees William Hawkins and Jim Shoaf are busy at work helping with our historical work. William is looking into the Henderson lifting in the early days and Jim Shoaf if helping to reconstruct our Olympic lifting history in the early days. In addition to being an honorary organization, the North Carolina Barbell Hall of Fame will serve by helping out at regular meets. It is one of our goals to help grow our sport in a positive direction.
