Coach Russ Murphy has had a big impact on N.C. Powerlifting. He was the high school football coach of Charles Beane and instilled great values in Charles, who in turn coached other athletes in powerlifting. Charles in turn inspired coach Murphy to become a champion powerlifter himself.
